Welcome!
This is who i am
Passion and creativity. My key towards success, and my path to create something out of this world. At the age of 3, i really knew where my hobby and passion went through. Aviation. The first time that i went to Schiphol with my dad, seeing all those planes landing and taking off again was such an experience. At that point, i knew exactly what i wanted to do. i wanted to become a pilot. However, i discovered, that my passion for aviation was based much closer at designing aircraft liveries. So at that point, i decided to throw myself into graphics design. At the moment, i am studying Graphics Design at the Mediacollege in Amsterdam,  i also repaint planes for Flightsimulator, create profile illustrations for a hobby, and i love to make pictures of airplanes in my spare time.
Take a look around, and feel free to contact me!
Cheers!

Made by etching my photo into plastic, and afterwards screen printing it on paper. After that, i cut my silhouette out, oasted it on a black piece of cardboard, and i made fadings with white paint.

My work
my passion
Illustrator. Repainter. Creator, Composition artist,
My love for aviation dates back all the way to the year 2001, when my parents took me to the spotters place near Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. I was three years old at that time, and that moment when an NCA 747 touched down on the runway and it opened up it's thrust reversers right in front of my eyes, was enough to pull a switch that triggered my heart into aviation for good. Since that day, I never lost any of that passion which i felt that particular day. Rather, I started drawing airplanes on paper, and not much later on the computer with MS paint (2006). I started creating side-on profile illustrations of airplanes, where I could apply my own designed color schemes on. That took me on a roll to genuinely develop myself as a aviation artist.

Eventually i started a facebook page called MJAD back in 2012. MJAD, (Mees Jansen Aviation Design) is a brand for my profile illustrations, which i have created from scratch. By mastering the tools on MS paint, Artweaver 5.0 and Adobe Photoshop accumulated over the past 6 years, MJAD started to grow out as brand specialized in detailed aircraft profile illustrations for both consumers and businesses. The main business: real-world airline liveries and custom liveries based on requests, and remarkable events within the civil aviation industry.

Since 2014 i have managed to publish my work together with the charity foundation Aviation Legends, who are well known for their tributes of the KLM MD-11 / Martinair MD-11, and the KLM Cityhopper Fokkers. All of these aircraft got their own books, and merchandising to encore these aviation legends.

By that i've thrown MJAD into the community of aviation enthusiasts, and to the people who are working within the industry.

In 2017, Aviation Legends commenced a new and possibly final chapter of a contribution on only one specific type of aircraft that we all know about. The Boeing 747 Jumbojet. In this particular case, the KLM Jumbo's. the Royal Dutch Airline decided to withdrawn their 747's from use by the year of 2015 until 2021. 2021 will also be marked as the year that the mighty jumbo has served the KLM for 5 decades. By honoring the past and celebrating the future of KLM, the foundation decided to bring out 2 editions. 1: The 747 Classic / 2: The current 747-400. I got the honor to create all the 747's that KLM had/has. These illustrations will be published in both books, and on the 747 Classic edition even on the cover.

The future of MJAD will be filled with passion, creativity and with all the great additions that the aviation community has to offer in the future. But one thing is for sure. The world we live in now that shaped our way of traveling will be embraced and remembered by the stories and the pictures of the ones who made it, kept it alive, and who put their passion in it to keep it going.
